The pivot · what changes everything

One piece,three shapes.

Every piece is a single part, already hinged: a body, an arm, and an axle between them. A quarter turn of the arm, and the piece changes shape. Scroll: C goes from U to L, then from L to Z.

How it works

One rule:every axle under its peg.

Fill the tray by choosing a place and a shape for each piece. Then put the lid on: its ten pegs have to land on the ten axles. Scroll: challenge 01 builds itself before your eyes.

Ten pieces, all different, each in two parts joined for good, with no assembly: the arm turns around a tube built into the body. In the exploded view, the arm lifts off and the axle appears. Pick a reference to examine it on its own and fold its arm.

Each thumbnail is one solution seen from above. The dark dots are the ten pegs: they never move, only the pieces and their shapes change.

The challenges

120 challenges,all the way to the lid you have to guess.

Five levels of 24 challenges. The higher the level, the fewer pieces you are given; at Wizard, the pegs are no longer drawn and you have to work out which way the lid goes. Scroll: the cursor runs through all 120 challenges.

Bar height: size of the solver's search tree, in nodes, on a log scale; at Wizard, it explores all four ways the lid can go. Every challenge has a unique solution, verified by two independently written solvers.

No booklet.The QR code on the box opens the challenge in 3D.

  • 02The white dots are the lid's pegs. Every axle, the circle on the piece, has to land on one of them.
